Shelby Community Federal Credit Union votes to merge with 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union

GREAT FALLS, MT (July 23, 2019) — Shelby Community Federal Credit Union recently held a special membership meeting July 9, 2019 to vote on merging with 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union. The vote was 279 to 11 to approve the merger. The merger date is planned for the end of August to open for business the third day of September 2019.

The merged credit unions will become one under the 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union name with combined assets of approximately $179 million, serving nearly 18,000 members across Montana and Grand Forks, North Dakota. 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union has Montana offices located in the communities of Great Falls, Conrad and Cut Bank and are pleased to be able to add the community of Shelby.

Steve Grooms, president and CEO of 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union noted the new addition will be a good fit for both Shelby Community FCU members as well as for 1st Liberty FCU. Grooms looks forward to providing the new members with a new local 24 hour ATM, electronic banking options, additional loan and deposit opportunities as well as a nationwide network of shared branches and fee free ATMs.
