Shell Federal Credit Union sponsors Free Gas Giveaway
DEER PARK, TX (October 24, 2013) — In celebration of International Credit Union Day, Shell FCU hosted a Free Gas Giveaway in Humble, Texas. The event offered $30 of gas pumped by Shell FCU employees to the first 100 individuals. Recipients needed not be a member of Shell FCU to receive the free gas. The line and media exposure started around 5am for the 7am event. By 6:45am more than 75 people were in line to receive free gas. Within one hour of starting, Shell FCU employees pumped gas for the happy and lucky 100 individuals. The community kept coming and a few stayed in line after the 100 mark hoping someone would leave and they would get the lucky spot.
Shell FCU sent out a press release two days prior to the event and received media exposure online and in several social media posts. Through an existing partnership the gas giveaway was mentioned several times by a local radio station, 94.5 The Buzz, to help keep the community informed. Two local news stations also picked up the story with live shots on the morning news and repeat mentions on both the mid day and evening news. “The event was a huge success and offered Shell FCU, our Humble branch and International Credit Union day more media exposure than I could of ever imagined,” stated Shell FCU Marketing Manager, Traci Gianukos.
