Shell New Orleans Federal Credit Union is now Xplore Federal Credit Union
NEW ORLEANS, LA (April 8, 2013) – Shell New Orleans Federal Credit Union has changed its name to Xplore Federal Credit Union effective Monday, April 8, 2013. This name change was not made lightly. After much debate, our management team and officials determined the name change to be the best way to reach out to all people eligible for membership in our community chartered federal credit union.
“The board of directors and executive team performed extensive research in arriving at this decision,” said Michelle C. Duhe, CEO of the credit union.
Although we have had a community charter since 2007, a common misconception remains– membership is still exclusive to Shell Oil employees. Our new name, Xplore Federal Credit Union, pays tribute to our founders–the employees of Shell who continue to explore, discover, and contribute to make our community a great place to live and work. This name change better positions us for future growth and diversification by serving more people in our community who deserve a quality, member-owned financial institution.
“As more local residents realize the benefits of membership with our credit union, our membership as a whole will benefit from growth, a continuing focus on exceptional member service, through expanded financial services, and an ongoing commitment to offer competitive rates,” stated Duhe.
A few of the expanded services we will be offering in 2013 are Remote Deposit Capture (the ability to deposit a check from your smart device), Institution-to-Institution Transfers, and an iPad app, which will allow you to efficiently access home banking.
The credit union is financially strong and well capitalized. The staff, friendly service, and commitment to the membership remains the same. Credit union services remain unchanged and business will continue as usual.
On Monday, April 8, 2013, we held events at our three branches to celebrate our name change. To kick off the day, we formally announced our new name at our One Shell Square branch. At our 5500 Veterans Blvd branch we held an official ribbon cutting with the Jefferson Chamber to celebrate purchasing this building. All of our branches had snacks and give-a-ways throughout the day.
