Sound Credit Union gives back through second annual “Afternoon of Service”

Sound employees use branch closures to serve 21 regional non-profits and community partners

On Monday, October 14, in tandem with credit union closures for the federal holiday, Sound Credit Union (Sound) employees utilized the day to lend a helping hand through their second annual “Afternoon of Service.”

As a part of Sound’s annual employee all-staff meeting, more than 350 Sound employees volunteered their time at 21 different non-profit locations throughout the Puget Sound. Over the course of the afternoon, employees served their community through activities including meal prepping at local food pantries, grounds maintenance and beautification for local parks, and wrapping birthday presents for homeless youth.

Among some of the community partners included in Sound’s volunteer day were:

“We are thankful for the opportunity support some of the countless organizations that serve our community day in and day out,” said Jen Reed, Sound’s Vice President of Public Relations. “Our employees look forward to this day all year and are really the heart of our company’s community-first values.”
