South Carolina Federal establishes donation fund for hurricane relief in the Bahamas

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (September 17, 2019) — South Carolina Federal Credit Union has established a donation fund, in conjunction with the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, so its members can contribute to Hurricane Dorian relief efforts currently underway in the Bahamas. The credit union will match donations up to $5,000.

Members can contribute to the fund by visiting any South Carolina Federal financial center or by calling 843.797.8300.

The Worldwide Foundation coordinates all levels of the credit union movement with disaster relief support by providing supplies, branch reconstruction and technical guidance, all through monetary contributions to help members rebuild their businesses and farms using the World Council’s disaster relief toolkit.

“South Carolina was spared the worst of Hurricane Dorian, making us both thankful and able to offer aid to the 75,000 people impacted by this very serious storm in the Bahamas,” said Scott Woods, South Carolina Federal President and CEO. “This is the spirit of people helping people.”
