State’s Top Credit Union Volunteer Award given to Spring City Resident

HARRISBURG, PA (May 18, 2015) — Dr. Richard Bauer of Spring City was recently presented the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association’s (PCUA) top award for volunteers. Bauer accepted the Joseph A. Moore Award for the 2015 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year during the PCUA 81st Annual Convention & Exposition held May 16 in Hershey, PA.

For more than 20 years, Bauer has served on the volunteer board of directors of Keystone Federal Credit Union in West Chester. Since 2009, Dr. Bauer has served as Board Chairman.

As a lifelong educator, his commitment to youth is extremely strong. As the director of Neighborhood Youth Corps of Chester and Delaware Counties, he created a campaign to raise awareness of the organization’s programs in the communities it serves. He founded the Coventry Soccer program, increasing participation seven-fold within the first year while encouraging parental involvement.

“The foundation of a credit union is its volunteer board of directors,” said PCUA President & CEO Patrick Conway. “It was a pleasure to recognize Dr. Richard Bauer for his many years of dedicated service to his credit union and community.”

The Volunteer of the Year Award is presented in memory of Joseph A. Moore, who served as an Association Board of Director from 1936-1972. He sat as Board Chairman for three terms and was the state’s first national delegate to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Board of Directors.
