Student teams to compete in this weekend’s iVIE SDCCU Redeye

Teams tasked with creating a 30-second video for a chance at $500 per teammate

SAN DIEGO, CA (February 26, 2015)San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, is teaming up with the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) to hold the Innovative Video in Education (iVIE) SDCCU Redeye Competition. The competition will feature 17 student teams from 13 San Diego County schools tasked with creating a video in just one weekend.

“SDCCU is proud to support the San Diego County Office of Education and their efforts to provide opportunities for students to leverage their creativity, foster teamwork and enhance their skill sets that will benefit them for their entire lives. The iVIE SDCCU Redeye presents a unique opportunity for students grades 6-12 to begin building their portfolios for college and beyond,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Halleck. “We are looking forward to the great work that’s produced during this exciting event.”

Here’s how it works: Filmmaking teams (comprised of five or less students and one chaperone) have just one weekend to make a 30-second video. All creativity—shooting, editing and adding a musical soundtrack—must occur in a 36-hour period beginning Saturday morning at 8 a.m. on February 28 and ending on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. on March 1. There are three parts to the competition:

Part 1:  Entry forms due February 13, 2015

Part 2:  iVIE SDCCU Redeye Competition will begin at 8 a.m. on February 28, 2015

Part 3:  One team will be announced the winner at the iVIE Awards on April 25, 2015

The winning video will be announced at the iVIE Award Movie Festival on April 25. Each member of the winning team will be awarded a $500 scholarship.
