Summit Credit Union ranked top 4% nationally in financial returns to members

Madison’s largest credit union receives one of the best ratings in the nation

MADISON, WI (February 1, 2018) — Summit Credit Union was recently ranked in the top four percent among the nation’s credit unions in a report measuring returns to members. Providing an overall ranking of financial returns to members, Summit was ranked seven out of 280 total credit unions surveyed in the $1–10 billion peer group.

“We’ve always made giving back to members a top priority,” said Summit CEO & President Kim Sponem. “Being a not-for-profit organization allows us to give members better value, which in turn gives them more financial freedom in their daily lives. That’s what it’s all about.”

In addition to the overall ranking, Summit ranked nationally in two other areas. The report found that the member-owned cooperative ranks second in the nation in the Return to Borrowers category, while placing 14th in Member Service Usage. Both marks were the highest among Wisconsin credit unions.

Summit has also been named the #1 Mortgage Lender in Dane County for the past eight years.

In October, the member-owned financial cooperative broke ground on its new 152,000-square-foot, six-story headquarter campus in Cottage Grove, which is set to open in 2019.
