Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union Opens New, Environmentally Friendly Branch in Ft. Myers

TAMPA, FL (April 26, 2013) – Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union opens an environmentally friendly branch at 4491 Underwood Drive in Ft. Myers, Florida, featuring LED lighting throughout, high-efficiency windows and insulation, geothermal air conditioning and heating, and 40-kilowatt solar power panels to offset electricity.

The branch is expected to use half the electricity of the credit union’s other branches and the exterior is outfitted with drought-resistant landscaping with drip irrigation where possible.

“We want to be responsible community and business citizens and this is a step in that direction. We’re excited about our environmentally friendly branch because we know that this contributes to cleaner air,” says Tom Dorety, president and CEO of Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union. “Plus, we see it as the right thing to do given the world today.”

Credit union members and the public are invited to tour the new branch at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 31 at 11 a.m. Suncoast Schools FCU staff will be present to show visitors the new space.

Beginning on Monday, May 27 until Friday, May 31, new members at the Ft. Myers branch will receive $20 towards an account, and all newand existing members will be entered into a drawing to win one of two Apple iPads.
