Tarrant County’s Credit Union houses Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Lending Professional of the Year

FORT WORTH, TX (May 29, 2018) — Cornerstone Credit Union League awarded Darlene Parker with the 2018 Lending Professional of the Year award Friday, May 18, 2018, at Cornerstone’s Southwest Lending Conference.

Cornerstone Credit Union League held its annual Southwest Lending Conference earlier this month in Galveston, Texas. Darlene Parker, Tarrant County’s Credit Union (TCCU) Vice President of Lending, received the 2018 Lending Professional of the Year award in recognition of her outstanding work at TCCU. Parker implemented changes and overhauled the credit union’s lending department – changes that resulted in the second-highest reported net income in TCCU’s 62-year history. Parker streamlined TCCU’s lending processes, established a separate call center, and built up indirect dealer relationships to increase auto loans; these are just some of the accomplishments that make her well deserving of this award.

“Darlene is an inspiration to our Lending Team,” Lending Services Supervisor, Shawn Hennigar said. “She shares her wealth of knowledge in lending to empower the rest of us to reach department goals and to excel in our individual roles. She sets a great example for us with her willingness to always lend a helping hand and her can-do attitude. She is highly deserving of this award.”

Parker has been in the credit union industry for over 35 years and has been an integral part of TCCU’s success for over 20 years. She is a graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School and CUNA’s Consumer and Residential Mortgage Lending School. In addition, Parker exemplifies the credit union difference of “people helping people” with her many acts of volunteerism in her community.

“Darlene is the quiet force that moves our lending department forward, always looking for a better way – a better result,” TCCU’s Vice President, Carla Reaves, said. “Harry Truman said, ‘It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.’ Darlene is that kind of leader; we couldn’t be more pleased for her or prouder of her.”
