TBA Credit Union awards three scholarships

TRAVERSE CITY, MI (August 24, 2020) — This year, TBA Credit Union has awarded three, $1,000.00 scholarships to local students. Two students received the Invested In Scholarship, and one student the Study Abroad Scholarship.

Chelsey Shafer was the recipient of the Study Abroad Scholarship which was launched in 2015 with the purpose of helping fund a students’ study of foreign language and culture. Shafer will be studying abroad in Japan to help master the Japanese language, while also teaching herself Korean and Mandarin in hopes of learning the three power-house languages in Asia and becoming a translator.

Sydney Yeomans and Abbey Welling were the recipients of the Invested In Scholarship, which was launched in 2019 with the purpose of helping fund schooling for students committed to volunteerism. Yeomans has volunteered with 15 different organizations in the community and plans on continuing her volunteer efforts throughout college. Welling has committed her time throughout high school to varying school activities, community service, and volunteer opportunities, and will also continue volunteering where she is needed.
