Tarrant County’s Credit Union (TCCU) announces Adenike Olabode, as the 2018 TCCU Scholarship Award recipient on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.
TCCU awarded a $1,000 Scholarship to Adenike Olabode, a deserving student member pursuing a 6-year pharmaceutical degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Olabode, a Grand Prairie native, enjoys painting, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
All applicants were presented with the essay question: “If funds were limitless, what new product or service would you as a credit union CEO offer to your members?” Olabode creatively articulated and presented a loan forgiveness or repayment plan to help students financially in gaining higher education.
“My parents work tirelessly to give me the opportunities they did not have when they were growing up, and I am determined to use my access to education to make them proud,” Olabode said. “With this scholarship, I will be one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming a Pharmacist specializing in Oncology or Infectious Diseases.”
The TCCU Scholarship Program was established in 2003 and the program has granted a total of 44 scholarships to graduating seniors and returning students since its inception.
“Through our scholarship program, we are not just helping our student members meet financial challenges; we are investing in the future of our communities and our credit union. Because, ultimately, we are all people helping people, and if we can help our young people help themselves, all the better,” CEO of TCCU, Lily Newfarmer said.
TCCU’s Scholarship Program offers a helping hand to academically-motivated student members, whether they plan to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or a vocational/technical school.
