Teachers, businesses, community leaders shared the love as they kissed a pig for a great cause

TruMark Financial’s 11th Financial Literacy Fundraiser raised awareness and funds for financial literacy programs in area schools

FORT WASHINGTON, PA (May 12, 2022) — Business and community leaders from across the Philadelphia region came together for a great cause and kissed a pot-bellied pig named Raines to raise awareness and funds in support of financial literacy programs in local schools. TruMark Financial® Credit Union’s Kiss–A-Pig Financial Literacy Fundraiser took place on Wednesday, May 11, at the Abington Art Center.

The fundraiser is a component of TruMark Financial’s Building Financial Futures initiative and brings together educators, community and business leaders, and credit union employees to raise money for the privilege of kissing a pig. With the more than $20,000 raised, the credit union will award grants to the participating schools to use to purchase materials for teaching the fundamentals of personal finance. This information will help students make informed financial decisions and guide them to a future of financial success.

Philly sports-radio and podcast personality Marc Farzetta, host of the Farzy Show, emceed and Gina Gannon, Action News traffic reporter and one of FYI Philly hosts, attended as a special guest and shared some of her experiences and thoughts about the importance of educating youth about money management. Students and representatives from participating schools were also in attendance.

The following schools were represented by an enthusiastic pig kisser and will receive a financial grant from the event’s proceeds:

  • Maritime Academy Charter School
  • All Saints Day School
  • George Washington High School
  • Baldi Middle School
  • Our Lady of Calvary
  • Jerome School
