The Daily Record announces Iris Calloway to Maryland’s 2025 Hispanic Leadership Awards

Baltimore, MD (October 16, 2025) |

The Daily Record has selected Iris Calloway, Community Relationship Coordinator, Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union (JHFCU), to receive Maryland’s Hispanic Leadership Award for 2025.

A new awards program, Maryland’s Hispanic Leadership Awards honors the growing and powerful force of Hispanics in Maryland’s economy and culture by recognizing Hispanic leaders and the companies that empower them. Hispanic Leaders in six categories--Business, Government, Health Care, Higher Education, Law and Nonprofits--are being honored for their professional accomplishments, community involvement and commitment to mentoring.

Iris, who joined JHFCU, the credit union that has been serving the Hopkins community and its affiliates for 50 years, in 2024, has made it her mission to be more than just a professional in the financial services industry. Throughout her 20-year career, she has witnessed how underserved the Hispanic community is, often facing barriers to access, understanding, and trust within the banking system. As JHFCU continues to take significant steps in serving this critical group, Iris works hard to bridge the gap by providing personalized support, culturally relevant guidance, and, most importantly, financial education that empowers individuals and families to build lasting financial wellness.

“The inaugural Maryland’s Hispanic Leadership Awards honorees are dynamic and impactful leaders who are shaping our state’s economy, culture and communities. They are professionally accomplished, engaged in the community and mentor the next generation,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/The Daily Record. “The Daily Record is pleased to honor these exceptional individuals and organizations.”

“Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union is more than just a financial institution,” said JHFCU CEO Keith O’Neil, Jr. “We are dedicated to empowering our community through financial wellness and education. Iris’s hard work and commitment to the Hispanic community ensures our mission to serve is brought to life.”

Iris, alongside other Maryland’s Hispanic Leadership Awards winners, was honored at a reception and awards celebration on September 24.
