Todd Marksberry proves that focusing on people can transform financial services
LONE TREE, CO (October 14, 2020) — Canvas Credit Union is thrilled to announce that Todd Marksberry is being honored by the Denver Business Journal as a 2020 “Most Admired CEO.” Todd celebrated his fifth anniversary at Canvas in 2020 and has been amplifying impact throughout his tenure.
With more than 25 years of executive experience, Todd has a vision to transform financial services. His strategic leadership, drive, and focus on culture nurtures high-performance teams who exude passion and purpose.
Through Todd’s charisma and love for the credit union movement, Canvas assets have grown over 100% through the last five years. In addition, Canvas now serves over 261,000 family members, an increase of more than 52% since 2015. It is the culture that Todd has created at Canvas, embracing the goal of Helping People Afford Life in Colorado and driving new and innovative products and services, that has created significant positive impact. Todd’s energy radiates throughout Canvas. He has cultivated a unique atmosphere within the Canvas family to serve not only members, but also their communities, with a whole-hearted approach. Around the office, Todd is known for his stellar dance moves and genuine care for his team, generating a “come as you are” environment for his family members to thrive in.
Canvas Credit Union’s board chairman, Tim Reed shared, “We are ecstatic to shout this for all to hear. When we hired Todd over five years ago, we were excited and eager to see how his unique approach might help us to do even more for our members and for Colorado. He has repeatedly exceeded our expectations, beyond what we even imagined. Todd puts people first. He listens. He dreams big. I speak for the entire board of directors when I say, this award celebrates a person who is modeling, leading, and encouraging positive change for human beings. As Todd always says, ‘the best is yet to come.’”
This year, the Most Admired CEO editorial section of the Denver Business Journal will be integrated into the Annual Giving Guide which features nonprofit organizations. One of the pillars of Canvas’ vision is to be known for their heart. Todd leads Canvas to invest fully in communities across the Front Range. This honor gives Canvas the opportunity to highlight a special community partnership with the Aurora Public Schools. In 2019, Canvas donated $60,000 to pay off the school lunch debt at all 18 Title 1 schools in Aurora, benefiting 1,437 low-income families in the Aurora communities. In 2020, Canvas surprised Aurora Public Schools’ leadership team with a $10,000 donation to help provide nutritional support for families in the Aurora community who have been affected by the pandemic.
“When I came to Colorado to serve at Canvas, I imagined what might happen if I could create something unique and special with people that I care about and love. That dream was never about me, and neither is this honor. At Canvas we transform the experience of financial services by putting others before self. Our board believes in putting people first and building a brand so that we create impact. I’m humbled and honored by the hustle, grit, and heart our Canvas family shows daily,” shared Todd. “We help people afford life. In times like these you see just why the promise of credit unions matters. Our Canvas family shares my passion for proving just how powerful credit unions can be. That means we are making the dreams of Coloradans come true. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
Canvas has been honored two-years running as a “Great Place to Work.” Todd’s leadership demonstrates just how a servant leader who puts people first can change people’s lives and drive strong performance and results. This achievement elevates the work that Todd does and shines a light on the impact that his leadership has created for Canvas and for Colorado.
