Travis Credit Union Appoints Barry Nelson to Executive Vice President
VACAVILLE, CA (June 7, 2013) Patsy Van Ouwerkerk, president and CEO of Travis Credit Union, announced the promotion of Barry N. Nelson to the position of executive vice president. In this position, Mr. Nelson will provide executive leadership to all of Travis Credit Union’s operating units, including the lending, retail sales and services, operations and marketing.
Nelson is a credit union veteran with 23 years of industry experience. He has been part of TCU’s senior management team since 2001 where he most recently served as senior vice president/chief operating officer.
“Barry has a very effective management style – he has worked extremely hard to become knowledgeable in all aspects of credit unions and has a natural connection with people”, stated Van Ouwerkerk. “Barry has earned great respect from all levels of employees, executive management and board members alike.” Van Ouwerkerk went on to say, “He has been instrumental in the growth and success of Travis Credit Union over the last several years. His commitment to the community and his leadership skills are invaluable as he leads our teams in developing long-standing relationships with our new and existing members.”
Currently working on his MBA from Columbia Southern University, Nelson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Santa Clara University and holds a Certified Chief Executive designation from the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES) as well as a Financial Management Series accreditation from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
A graduate of the 2007 Vacaville Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, Nelson serves the community by serving on the Board of the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce. Nelson previously served on the Board of Directors of the Vacaville Public Education Foundation, the California Credit Union League and XCU Capital Corporation, Inc.
Barry currently resides in Vacaville with his wife, Karen.
