UNIFY Financial Credit Union recognizes five organizations through employee-led diversity, equity & inclusion initiative

** Organizations selected at internal team-wide event **

TORRANCE, CA (March 28, 2022) — Through its employee-led Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) initiative, UNIFY Financial Credit Union (UNIFY) recently recognized five DE&I-focused organizations with a total donation of $10,000.

These organizations were selected by the UNIFY team at an internal event and included:

  • Hispanic Scholarship Fund, supporting more than 24,000 scholars at over 1,100 colleges, universities, and graduate education sites.
  • The Leadership Conference Education Fund, serving as the education/research arm of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, representing more than 200 national organizations.
  • Black Lives Matterdedicated to addressing and educating about racism, discrimination, and other inequalities against Black people.
  • National Women’s Law Center, which aims to protect women and defend their rights to health care as well as equality in the workplace and schools.
  • OutRight Action International, working at all levels to research, document, defend, and advance human rights for LGBTIQ people around the world.

“Our DE&I Council brings together team members across the organization to play an essential role in helping us broaden our diverse and dynamic work environment while helping ensure we are supporting equity and inclusion,” said UNIFY President/CEO Gordon Howe. “We thank our team for their participation in such initiatives, and are pleased to acknowledge and provide assistance to each of these notable organizations.”

UNIFY’s DE&I Council is made up of a diverse cross-section of team members, at all levels, throughout the credit union; council members serve short terms to ensure participation is accessible to a wide variety of interested participants. Representing a collaborative “voice-of-team,” the council guides the credit union’s DE&I efforts, gathering input, discussing viewpoints, and making recommendations to ensure meaningful steps forward in this important area. UNIFY’s DE&I-focused contributions complement its long-standing commitment to support the members, business partners, and communities the credit union serves.
