United Federal Credit Union opens second Indiana branch location with Ireland Road branch ribbon-cutting ceremony

United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) celebrated the opening of its newest branch at 223 W. Ireland Road in South Bend, Indiana on August 15 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This is the second UFCU branch to open in Indiana, joining an existing location in Griffith.

UFCU opened its new branch on July 23 and is currently serving members. The ceremony invited the community inside its doors to explore the new 6,450 square foot branch. Construction to build the branch started last October and was handled by The Redmond Company.

As a credit union, UFCU is a not-for-profit, which means it is governed by members rather than shareholders. The credit union has assets that exceed $2 billion and branches in over six states.

We exist so that our members can enjoy certain advantages that come from not focusing on profits, such as higher savings rates, lower loan rates, and fewer fees,” says UFCU President/CEO Terry O’Rourke. “We are excited and honored to bring our unique brand of financial services to more Hoosiers.”

The new Ireland Road branch is a full-service extension of UFCU, offering personal and business banking services including loans, mortgages, and investment aide. Carla Fazio, hired in May of this year, will serve as the Ireland Road branch manager at UFCU. She was previously assistant vice president at Old National Bank for seven years and prior to that she served five years as a branch manager at JP Morgan Chase.

The opening of this branch brings approximately seven permanent jobs to St. Joseph County. A total of six new branches will be built in Indiana over the next three years. UFCU will open a third Indiana branch location later this month in Mishawaka, Edison Lakes.
