United Teletech Financial Educates Youth On Money Matters

National Credit Union Youth Week puts the focus on youth and finances

TINTON FALLS, NJ – United Teletech Financial Federal Credit Union (UTF) will focus on its youth membership during April in celebration of National Credit Union Youth Week, April 21-27. UTF will be celebrating youth all month long with educational opportunities, activities and giveaways.

This year’s celebration is a detective theme – “Savings Sleuth: Solve the Mystery,” and parents are encouraged to bring their children to UTF to learn more about savings and how money works.

“Learning how to save money starts at a young age, as children first begin to earn or receive money of their own from chores or as gifts. It’s important for parents to instill in their children how money works and how children should use money wisely,” Leo R. Ardine, President/CEO of UTF, said.

UTF offers programs targeted toward children such as its Money Mammals Kids Club, which is designed to teach children how to “Save, Share, and Spend Smart.” Children receive rewards as they reach certain savings goals. As children get older, other programs are available to keep educated on savings and smart financial decisions. UTF’s UProsper division has financial information and advice for all stages of life, which can be found at uprosper.org.

“We really hope parents will take time during youth month to talk to their children about finances, the importance of saving and how money works. We aim to be a resource for families in getting those types of conversations started and aiding in any way to help children better understand how to be a smart saver,” Ardine said.

For families hoping to ‘solve the savings mystery’, stop into a UTF branch in Holmdel, Marlboro, Neptune, North Brunswick or Tinton Falls, N.J., call 732-530-8100 or visit utfinancial.org to get started.
