Vantage West announces Thrive Tucson Business Spotlight contest winners
TUCSON, AZ (May 15, 2018) — Vantage West Credit Union culminated its celebration of Community Banking Month (April) with an exclusive “yellow carpet” event at a local movie theater, where they announced the winners of their Thrive Tucson Business Spotlight contest.
Rialto Theatre Foundation, QMULATIVE, and Borderlands Brewing Company each won the opportunity to be featured on the Vantage West-sponsored social media community spotlight segment, Thrive Tucson, hosted by Karla Escamilla.
The contest aimed to support Local First Arizona’s mission to encourage people to buy and bank local, and help build thriving local communities.
The winners were announced from a pool of 41 entrants, all business owners with compelling stories of how they support the local community.
In its winning entry, the Rialto Theatre Foundation outlined its mission to preserve Rialto Theatre as a landmark Tucson concert venue. The Theatre opened in 1920 but was slated for demolition in 1986. The foundation was formed in 2004 to ensure the Theatre sustains its operations. Today, the Rialto hosts more than 250 events and sees more than 100,000 patrons annually. It is also a main economic driver of downtown Tucson’s revitalization.
Borderlands Brewing Company was selected for being a community-focused business whose mission is not only to make great beer but also to make our community a great place to live. This is demonstrated by their partnering with numerous non-profit organizations to raise awareness and funds for those doing good in our community.
QMULATIVE is a local lifestyle apparel brand started by a local entrepreneur with the vision to bridge the gap between aspiring and established talent. From sewing on-the-spot at markets that give back to local non-profits, to being a business mentor for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, QMULATIVE takes pride in its community involvement.
Significantly, Tucson-based artist Lando Chill, who is featured in Vantage West’s video, “Where Does Your Money Go,” wears a QMULATIVE t-shirt in the video which evangelizes support of local consumption. The video was produced using an all-Tucson cast and crew to emphasize how supporting local business grows our economy.
