Vizo Financial holds fifth annual Hot Dog Eating Contest for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
GREENSBORO, NC (August 3, 2018) — Vizo Financial brought a little bit of sunshine to the wettest July in Pennsylvania history when they held their fifth annual Hot Dog Eating Contest on July 25, 2018! The event raised in $3,300 for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals at Penn State Children’s Hospital.
Nine contestants from various Central Pennsylvania credit unions, Vizo Financial and MY CU Services went head-to-head to see who could eat the most hot dogs in five minutes. Three women participated in the women’s competition and six men participated in the men’s competition. The contestants included: Tina Cigic, Vizo Financial; Eric Deaner, First Capital FCU; Mike Heider, MY CU Services; Sam Glesner, Belco Community CU; Cody Johnson, Belco Community CU; Deborah Mozal, Community Regional CU; Brit Parker, AmeriChoice FCU; Roger Stout, Penn Wilco FCU, UFCW Local FCU, W-BEE FCU, Wyoming Area FCU; and Matt Ward, MY CU Services.
Cody Johnson from Belco Community Credit Union won the men’s competition, consuming seven and one-quarter hot dogs, while Brit Parker from AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union won the women’s competition (for the second year in a row) with five hot dogs.

“It’s hard to believe we’ve been doing the Hot Dog Eating Contest for five years now, but it just keeps getting better,” said Erin Doan, administration and community relations director for Vizo Financial. “This was one of our biggest years yet, with the most sponsors and contestants we’ve ever had. Credit unions have so much excitement for this event, and it shows in their eagerness to participate, their generous donations and their outpouring of love for CMN Hospitals.”
Two CMN Hospitals’ miracle patients, Nick Cropper and Sammy Hill, and their families were present to share their stories of working with CMN Hospitals at Penn State Children’s Hospital.
“Having the miracle children and their families here makes the contest feel complete,” said Doan. “We get to hear firsthand how the money we’re raising is helping the children in our communities.”
The contest has brought in more than $10,000 for CMN Hospitals since it began in 2014.
