VyStar Credit Union President/CEO Joins USO Southeast Region Advisory Board

JACKSONVILLE, FL (May 10, 2022) — VyStar Credit Union announced that President/CEO Brian Wolfburg has accepted an invitation to join the USO Southeast Region Advisory Board, a role in which he will work to expand the credit union’s support for military members, veterans and their families.

The 36th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, Gen. George Casey (Ret.), is the chairman of the USO Board of Governors and appointed Wolfburg to the new role. Wolfburg will focus on providing resources to assist the USO with military members transitioning to civilian life, share his network with the USO to connect like-minded individuals and assist the USO in acquiring additional corporate support.

“It is a tremendous honor and privilege to represent VyStar Credit Union on the USO Southeast Region Advisory Board,” Wolfburg said. “Our credit union was founded 70 years ago at Naval Air Station Jacksonville to serve military members, civil service employees and their families. As VyStar expands throughout the Southeast and serves current and former service members across the country, I can think of no greater way to honor our organization’s heritage than by working with the USO. It is truly humbling to connect with an organization that has such a long and distinguished history of supporting the brave men and women who serve our country.”

VyStar has a longstanding partnership with the USO PathfinderSM Military Transition Service Center at its NAS Jacksonville branch. Part of Wolfburg’s goals for joining the Board include expanding that partnership, both in Jacksonville and across the Southeast, by linking individuals with the services they need to create the life they want for themselves and their families. VyStar will also continue to develop career opportunities for veterans as well as develop initiatives such as its Military Heroes Mortgage Program, which was created for those who protect, serve and care for our country.

Wolfburg joined VyStar in 2017 and has more than 20 years of experience and leadership as a senior executive in the credit union and diversified financial services industry. His vision for supporting the military community aligns with VyStar’s heritage. Founded as Jax Navy Federal Credit Union in 1952, VyStar remains true to its roots in support of the military community. In 2021, VyStar gave more than $6.8 million in community support to more than 300 nonprofit organizations, more than ever before. That included over $800,000 to more than 30 military-themed initiatives.

Wolfburg would like to expand on those partnerships by connecting the USO with like-minded organizations and individuals. VyStar also regularly supports large-scale events, like the River City Smoke Show in Jacksonville, where hundreds of veterans received free tickets from VyStar. Other military-themed initiatives supported by VyStar include the National POW/MIA Memorial and Museum, Wounded Warrior Project, military appreciation luncheons in Jacksonville, Gainesville and Orlando, the NAS Jax Air Show featuring the Blue Angels and VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. VyStar also offers discounts to events and attractions for the military and their families in multiple cities.

“We are pleased to welcome Brian Wolfburg as the newest USO Southeast Region Advisory Board member,” said Jim Whaley, Regional President, USO Southeast. “As an accomplished business leader, Brian’s leadership and passion for serving the military community will be an essential asset to the USO Southeast Board as the USO celebrates 81 years of serving our troops and their families throughout the Southeast region.”

In addition to this new role with the USO, Wolfburg serves on the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Jacksonville Branch Board, the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors Advisory Board, the Museum of Science and History Board, the Credit Union National Association’s World Council Committee, FIS’s Credit Union Advisory Board, the Jacksonville Chamber Board and the JAX USA Partnership Board, among many other engagements.
