Wright-Patt Credit Union Announces Plans To Return To The Columbus, Ohio Market And A Market Leader

FAIRBORN, OH – Wright-Patt Credit Union (WPCU) announced it will be returning to the Columbus, Ohio market in 2013. WPCU already serves nearly 4,000 members in the Columbus area and was recently approved by the State of Ohio’s Division of Financial Institutions to expand its field of membership to include Franklin County.

“WPCU has experienced a great deal of growth during the past five years in the Dayton market. As we looked toward the credit union’s growth and reviewed our options, we let the market dictate our expansion plans,” said Doug Fecher, WPCU President and CEO. “In fact, Columbus happens to be our most requested area for expansion by our members.” In addition to opening a regional office in Columbus, WPCU plans to open up to five new member centers initially to serve members.

To help lead the return into the Columbus market, WPCU has hired Tammy Jones as the credit union’s Columbus Market Leader. Tammy brings more than twenty years of credit union experience in the Columbus market, most recently as Vice President of Operations and Chief Operations Officer of Credit Union of Ohio. “We’re very excited to have Tammy join our team. She has a great deal of experience leading the credit union difference in the Columbus marketplace,” says Fecher. “Tammy’s focus is to help us better serve our existing members and to help us form lasting relationships with our new neighbors in the community.”

WPCU, which had two locations in Columbus in the 1990s as a result of mergers, closed them in 2000 when resources were stretched too thin and the locations were not convenient. “We also deliver a much stronger value today than we did in 2000,” continued Fecher. “Folks in Columbus will see a much different and much stronger credit union from the one that left nearly fifteen years ago.”

WPCU is planning to open its 25th member center in Springboro, Ohio late in May. In March, WPCU relocated its Springfield member center from an inline strip mall to a free-standing location to continue to accommodate better serving members.
