Xpress Data holds successful Credit Union Cornhole Challenge

Popular lawn game raised thousands of dollars for charities of choice for participating CUs

Xpress Data, Inc. (XDI), the only company in the nation specializing exclusively in the production and delivery of credit union notices, statements, and other event-driven member correspondence, announced today that their Credit Union Cornhole Challenge attracted a range of diverse credit unions to participate in a charity fundraising event of over $25,000 that involved the popular lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn (or bean bags) at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. The event was held at the beautiful ocean-side Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and it drew 44 enthusiastic credit union teams.

Teams were placed into two divisions: CU Executive and CU Employee. Wheelhouse Credit Union won the Executive Division with Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego receiving the top prize of $5000, while LA Financial Credit Union took home top honors in the Employee Division and donated their $5000 winnings to the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. Bret Johnson, Vice President of Operations at Wheelhouse Credit Union, was awarded the Highest Score of all contestants and commented that “the event was great fun and well organized by XDI. It is always fantastic to see our credit union friends all working together for charities while participating in a friendly competition.” His co-worker, Community Relations Officer Steve Peterson, added that “XDI events have quickly become employee favorites and we are thankful for the generosity of XDI and for throwing such a fun day in the sun at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.”

Mike Cooper, President/CEO of XDI, states that “we couldn’t be happier with how our first annual challenge turned out and in addition to having a great time, we managed to raise lots of money for numerous different charities.” He emphasizes that “just like we have used our popular Credit Union Chili Challenge to bring credit unions together to raise money for charity over the years, we are grateful that our Credit Union Cornhole Challenge was so successful this year in donating to good causes. We also organized a number of unique challenges to go along with the main tournament which kept everyone engaged and provided a lot of fun opportunities for our participants to win cash for their favorite non-profit organization.”
