3 things to consider before buying your next home

Some people find their dream home and never leave. Some people stay put because they don’t feel like going through the hassle of moving. Others keep moving until they find that perfect place. If you’re in the latter group, here are a few things you should consider before your next move…

Location: If you’re looking to move in the same city you currently live in, you may not think a whole lot about location. If it’s a nice house in a good neighborhood, that might be all you care about. But think a little deeper for a moment. Is it in the same school district you’re currently in? If not, are the schools better or worse? What is it close to? Do you have easy access to entertainment and dining options? It always pays to ask yourself these questions.

Size: When moving to a new house, it can be tempting to look for a house that’s a lot bigger than your current home. But let’s be honest, how much house do you really need? Are you married? Do you have kids? Animals? Do you need a home office? Are you planning on having a larger family in the near future? A bigger house is nice, but it can also be a lot more expensive.

Patience: There are many reasons that it pays to be patient when you’re buying a home. Here are a couple that quickly come to mind. You may really want to find a new home, but don’t be so impatient that you decide to settle for something that isn’t exactly what you want. This will only lead to buyer’s remorse. You also don’t want to make a quick decision just because a house has a few characteristics that you really like. Be super thorough. Does every door close properly? How’s the water pressure? Are your light switches/outlets upside down? These are little things that might drive you crazy, so be picky and take your time deciding.
