The Friday afternoon cleaning: You know how you always wake up happy the morning after you’ve cleaned the house? Cleaning your work station can have the same effect. Whether you’re working from your home office or your office office, spending a little bit of time cleaning your work station on Friday afternoon is a great way to make sure the good vibes have invaded your desk area on Monday morning.
Make your rounds: Instead of catching up with coworkers randomly throughout the day, make the effort to get your social juices flowing first thing in the morning. Even if you’re working from home, you can drop a note in the group chat or slack channel and you’ll really feel like your day has started. Now chug a little coffee and you’ll be ready to go.
Get your inbox to zero: I’m not saying you should delete your inbox, but you can sort through it, delete the stuff that’s garbage, and at least skim everything that’s new. Now you can get to work on everything in there and not expect any surprises until something else drops in.
