3 ways to focus the fight against inflation

We’re all feeling the sting of inflation. Milk, bread, and a lot of other things are more expensive than they have been in a long time. Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot that we can do to stop it, but we can fight it as best we can. If you’re feeling like your dollar isn’t going as far as it used to, here are three things you can focus on to battle back against inflation…

Focus on your debt: If you’ve got high-interest debt like a personal loan or credit cards, try to attack those to free up your cash. If you’re continuously having to spend your hard-earned money on paying interest, you’ll have less cash to put towards necessary expenses. Check out other credit cards (with no interest for up to 18 months) that might help you get ahead of your debt.

Focus on food: According to the USDA, food prices went up 5.8% from 2022 to 2023 (this includes 5% for food-at-home and 7.1% for food-away-from-home). Since we all have to eat, this is a pain that everyone has felt. The good thing is, you can always take a few easy steps to help combat these cost increases. Eating at home or “from home” can save a little money. Also, we all have an item or two on our weekly shopping list that’s are more of a “want” than a “need”. Next time you get to the grocery store, before you get out of your car, think about what you can scratch off of your list before you head inside.

Focus on your budget: It’s not just your weekly grocery list that has a few unnecessary items on it. Your budget probably contains a few things that you could do without every month. I dare you to find one streaming service you paid for but didn’t use last month. I bet it won’t be hard to find it.
