6 easy ways to relieve stress

We all get stressed. There may be a million reasons why we feel this way, so it’s not easy to avoid it. The good news is, even if you can’t easily solve the root problem, there are some ways you can help alleviate the stress. Here are a few ideas.

Listen to music

My favorite music for stress relief is either 90s tunes or movie scores. Classical music in general will relax me, but it’s even better at putting me to sleep, so I usually choose something with a good groove. Creating a Spotify playlist and throwing the headphones on for a while usually does the trick for me. Whatever type of music puts a little pep in your step is always a good choice.

Talk to a friend

Sometimes you just need someone to listen. Having your feelings bottled up can be uncomfortable. Call up a friend and tell them what’s bothering you. Feel the relief when you get some things off your chest.

Laugh

This sounds simple, and it really is. Laughing releases endorphins that can improve your mood and will also put you in a good head space. There’s no better way to feel relaxed than some big laughs. The end credits to Talladega Nights always work for me.

Take a deep breath

Breathing deep can lower your blood pressure and have a calming effect on your body. Next time you’re stressed, try some breathing exercises, it should help you clear your mind and feel more at peace.

Exercise

Like laughing, exercise will release endorphins that will improve your mood. A quick walk around the block or office will get your blood flowing and improve your mood in a hurry. Sex works in a similar fashion, so don’t be afraid to try that out.

Unplug yourself

Chances are you’re around devices of some sort most of the time, so take some time and disconnect. Some time away from that noise can do wonders for your body.
