The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHLBank San Francisco) has announced that Crossroads Mission is a recipient of a 2021 AHEAD Program grant for $25,000.
AHEAD Grants are delivered through FHLBank San Francisco’s (www.fhlbsf.com) member financial institutions to local community organizations for projects and programs that offer benefits to lower-income and underserved communities. As an FHLBank San Francisco member financial institution, AEA Federal Credit Union worked with Crossroads Mission to apply for the grant.
“At AEA, one of our pillars is ‘Together Be Better’ and that commitment to each other and our community is something we take to heart,” said Adele Sandberg, President and CEO of AEA Federal Credit Union. “Crossroads Mission is doing vital work in supporting members of our community at a ‘crossroads’ in their life and we are grateful that they were selected to receive $25,000 to help continue their outreach efforts.”
Crossroads Mission (www.crossroadsmission.org) is a Christian Faith-based homeless shelter and drug and alcohol addiction recovery rehabilitation facility that has been serving the Yuma community since 1959. The AHEAD grant will be used to purchase a new vehicle to support outreach efforts in outlying areas.
“There are those in need who come to us, and there are others in need who need us to reach out to them,” said Myra Garlit, Chief Executive Officer. “The AHEAD Grant funds will help us purchase a vehicle that will strengthen our outreach efforts and help us move forward.”
The grant is part of a $1.5 million disbursement of AHEAD Grant funds that have been awarded to 60 targeted economic development projects. The grants will be used to fund 60 projects that will boost economic development activity and promote financial stability in communities throughout Arizona, California, and Nevada.
“We are pleased to partner with our member AEA to support Crossroads Mission,” said Marietta Núñez, senior vice president and community investment officer at FHLBank San Francisco. “The services they provide to the Yuma community are life-changing, and particularly in the wake of the pandemic it is critical to be able to reach out to vulnerable people where they are to provide vital services.”
