Bakersfield, CA (November 4, 2021) |
Valley Strong Credit Union is excited to share that Michael P. Duffy, Chief Advocacy Officer, has been named the California PAC Advocate of the year. Advocacy recipients were honored Tuesday, November 2, at the California Credit Union League’s Annual Meeting and Convention held in Palm Desert, California. The Advocacy Awards recognize individuals and organizations whose efforts substantially advance credit union legislative and regulatory interests.
Michael P. Duffy, no stranger to credit union advocacy, has been championing credit unions, members, and communities since he was introduced to the movement 40 years ago.
The timing of this award, however, is serendipitous as it coincides with Duffy being named Chief Advocacy Officer at Valley Strong. Michael enters the role as the result of a successful merger with Financial Center Credit Union, where he was the President/CEO for 22 years. Financial Center became legally combined with Valley Strong effective October 1.
When asked about receiving the award, Michael commented, “I am honored to be recognized, in part, because I believe that credit union political action is tantamount to ensuring our industry’s ongoing success and longevity. The bottom line: political action ensures credit unions have an influential voice when it comes to legislation.”
Nick Ambrosini, President/CEO of Valley Strong, was pleased with the award.
“We’re proud of Michael and the work he’s doing for the movement,” Ambrosini said, “It takes leaders like Michael, ones who believe in the spirit of our cooperative roots that will guarantee the ideology of “people helping people” remains at the forefront in everything we do.”
