Paine College receives $60,000 pledge from Peach State Federal Credit Union

AUGUSTA, GA (December 3, 2021) |

Paine College is pleased to announce that they have received a $60,000 pledge from Peach State Federal Credit Union. The donation was made in honor of the credit union’s 60th Anniversary and demonstrates their ongoing commitment to the educational advancement of students. The pledge will be fulfilled over five years and will assist many students with access to higher education at Paine College. Through a series of connecting matching endowment funds, this contribution has the potential of generating an aggregate of $240,000 in academic support over the next five years.

“Our credit union was founded by educators 60 years ago this year,” said Peach State’s President/CEO, Marshall Boutwell. “We honor that foundation with our continued support of education throughout our service area.” The announcement was made at a press conference on December 1, 2021, on the campus of Paine College by Boutwell with a presentation to Dr. Cheryl Evans Jones, President of Paine College.

Dr. Cheryl Evans Jones stated, “We are grateful to Peach State for believing as we do that Paine College is a worthy and sound investment. At Paine, over 95% of our students receive tuition assistance. Many of our students work multiple jobs while carrying a full course load. Scholarships can serve as a lifeline for students and change the course of their lives by easing financial burdens that will often move them closer to academic success. We look forward to a long and productive partnership with Peach State. This generous donation will be greatly appreciated by the College and the student recipients.
