Dr. Carey Yazeed, an accomplished author, professor and consultant specializing in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, has recently joined CU Strategic Planning as Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging.
In this newly created position, she’ll be working in all areas of the company’s DEI offerings, including developing curricula and training. She will also be spearheading a new video series that will serve as a self-paced “DEI 101.”
"I believe credit unions have an important role in reducing the inequities that exist in this country,” Dr. Yazeed said. “I am excited to be a part of the CU Strategic Planning family and helping our clients to decrease the wealth gap, starting with the communities they serve.”
Dr. Yazeed brings a remarkable background to CU Strategic Planning and its client credit unions. She spent her career as a business consultant, bestselling author, college professor and a clinical social worker. She’s in high demand as a speaker on organizational justice and the intersection of gender bias in the workplace. She has self-published seven books, including the Amazon bestsellers Shut ’em Down: Black Women, Racism and Corporate America and Everyday Struggle: How Toxic Workspaces Impact Black Women. When Dr. Yazeed ran a consulting practice, she provided business development and training for women professionals and business owners. She recently was named one of CORE Magazine’s 100 Influential Blacks of 2022.
“I am very excited to have Dr. Yazeed join our team and help move credit unions forward on their DEI journey,” CU Strategic Planning Co-Owner Ronaldo Hardy said. “As we help credit unions unlock opportunities to change lives and their communities, ensuring diversity, equity and inclusion – both internally within their teams and externally with members – is critical. Credit unions are the key to financial inclusion at an authentic, grassroots level.”
