MSUFCU opens Downtown Detroit branch, donates to five local organizations

MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) today opened its new full-service branch in downtown Detroit with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new branch is at 243 W. Congress St., at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Congress Street in the historic Marquette Building, and includes a community room for use by nonprofit organizations and other community partners. It is the Credit Union’s 23rd branch.

“The goal with this new branch is twofold: to provide existing members with the quality financial services they know and trust in another convenient location, and also to connect with Detroit residents and welcome them as new members,” said April Clobes, President and CEO of MSUFCU. “We look forward to helping area residents achieve financial security, their goals, and, ultimately, their dreams.”

The new branch location initially brings eight new jobs to Detroit. The Credit Union supports many local organizations that assist those in the community and is committed to working in partnership to promote area artists and small businesses, as well as by welcoming local groups to use the community room that is part of the new MSUFCU space.

During the grand-opening event, check presentations were made to support the following local organizations:

  • $50,000 to the Detroit Institute of Arts.
  • $25,000 to the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.
  • $25,000 to Apple Developer Academy.
  • $25,000 to Crescendo Detroit.
  • $25,000 to The Carr Center.

These community investments are in addition to the impact MSUFCU has already made through its $1 million support of MSU’s Community Music School-Detroit and recently announced presenting sponsorship of the Detroit Free Press Marathon, which is taking place in October 2023.
