A simple credit card lesson from a shark (or dragon)

Confused yet? I’m talking about one of the sharks from the TV show Shark Tank, Kevin O’Leary to be specific (Also previously a dragon on the Canadian version, Dragons’ Den). The Canadian businessman, investor, journalist, and TV personality known also as Mr. Wonderful is someone you’re all probably familiar with.

In this digital era we live in, it seems like there’s always a slight risk that a hacker somewhere is looking to steal your credit card information. Most of us probably feel like major online retailers are safe and trustworthy, but there are a lot of places to shop online, so you really can’t be too careful.

Recently, Mr. Wonderful posted a YouTube Short that provides a simple tip for online shoppers everywhere.

Watch the video above to hear it from Mr. Wonderful himself.

He recommends that everyone have at least two credit cards:

  1. One with a smaller balance that you use to shop online, that way if your card is compromised, there’s only so much damage that can be done.
  2. And a second one with a larger balance that you only use for in-person shopping, when you want to use a credit card for a big ticket item.

It’s a simple tip really, but it’s good advice if you’re often making purchases from smaller online retailers that might not have as much security as you’d like.
