CO-OP launches cardless cash access in ATMs

Credit unions can add the feature to their own mobile banking apps.

ATMs in the massive CO-OP Financial Services network could soon allow members to get cash without inserting a plastic card.

The payments and financial technology company announced this week that it is rolling out a new “Cardless Cash Access” feature for its ATM terminal driving services, which will allow members to stage ATM cash withdrawals via mobile app. When members arrive at the ATM, they scan a QR code with their mobile app to authenticate the transaction and retrieve their cash.

CO-OP Financial Services manages a network of almost 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs.

Credit unions add the feature to their own mobile banking apps. The technology works on Diebold Nixdorf and NCR ATMs in the CO-OP ATM network, the company said.
