Cooperation

Collaboration at its finest

collaboration

The collaboration among Credit Union Leagues/Associations is something to admire and celebrate.

Through intentional, thoughtful, and strategic partnership, 32 state and regional Credit Union Leagues/Associations advocate relentlessly to protect and advance a strong, vibrant credit union system across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.  I am beyond proud that the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) serves as a conduit for this partnership.

Collaboration and impact is at the heart of everything Leagues do.

  • Leagues work with credit unions, understanding the challenges you face as you serve your members.
  • Leagues work with lawmakers, crafting strong public policy solutions and showcasing the real-world impact credit unions make in your communities.
  • Leagues work with regulators, to ensure a strong operating environment for credit unions.
  • Leagues work with America’s Credit Unions, aligning on advocacy strategies and leveraging data to amplify our collective voice.
  • And Leagues work with each other, sharing insights and strengthening the unified voice of our movement.

We know that  advocacy starts at home—in the local communities where credit unions help families buy homes, launch businesses, and build financial security.

By working hand-in-hand with credit unions, Leagues cultivate trusted relationships with local leaders. That local engagement translates into lasting connections, stronger advocacy, and a deeper appreciation for the vital role credit unions play—especially as these local leaders become state and federal policymakers.

Our collaborative spirit is most visible in times of crisis—hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and tornadoes. In the face of disaster, credit unions, Leagues, and foundations step up: delivering emergency financial assistance, helping communities rebuild, and ensuring members have access to critical funds.

But collaboration goes far beyond moments of urgent need. Every day, credit unions, Leagues, and America’s Credit Unions work proactively to:

  • Expand access to affordable housing
  • Engage with regulators to shape forward-thinking rules and regulations
  • Deliver financial education and solutions that empowers and uplifts members

Through these and many other efforts, we build more than just relationships—we build trust, credibility, and influence at State Capitols and in Washington, D.C.

As we look ahead, one thing is certain: the strength of our movement lies in collaboration. Whether working with lawmakers in state and local communities, engaging with regulators, or standing united on Capitol Hill, the credit union movement is at our best when we all work together.

We are committed to continuing to work together, strategically, boldly and with credit unions at the forefront. We deeply appreciate Jim Nussle’s steadfast leadership and his intentional collaboration with the League System throughout his time leading the national association.  And we are excited to welcome Scott Simpson as the next President/CEO of America’s Credit Unions.  We appreciate that Scott has already emphatically expressed that collaboration among Leagues, credit unions, and America’s Credit Unions as the national association will strengthen the system. We couldn’t agree more. To each of you—champions of this movement—thank you. Together, we are not only safeguarding the future of credit unions, we are creating a better future for the members and communities we serve.
