CUNA talks CU jobs, rulemakings in meeting with DOL

CUNA met with the Department of Labor (DOL) Monday to discuss several credit union related issues Monday. In addition to discussions on DOL rulemakings, CUNA provided the agency with data estimating the credit union sector supports nearly 900,000 jobs nationally.

CUNA’s data shows that credit unions report approximately 295,000 full-time equivalent employees as of the end of 2017, and that credit union activity in the marketplace accounts for 588,000 indirect and adduced jobs.

During the meeting, CUNA also raised concerns with the DOLS’s overtime rule and other rulemakings. CUNA also discussed association health and retirement plans, the Office of Compliance Initiatives and DOL efforts to hire veterans and encourage apprenticeships.
