For Ellafi Federal Credit Union, serving members has always meant serving the community as a whole. Built on a mission to empower Women+ and advance financial equity, Ellafi continues to show that meaningful impact happens when purpose meets action. That mission came to life through the launch of Ellafi Kind and its inaugural Local Nonprofit Giveaway, an initiative created to highlight grassroots organizations that embody kindness, resilience, and community spirit.
The story:
Ellafi Kind is the charitable arm of Ellafi Federal Credit Union, created to support local nonprofits and initiatives that strengthen economic opportunity and financial equity for Women+, particularly those in underserved communities. Through intentional giving and community partnerships, Ellafi Kind extends the credit union’s people-first philosophy beyond financial services and into the neighborhoods it serves.
To mark the launch of Ellafi Kind and deepen its commitment to community impact, the credit union awarded $500 grants to five local nonprofits through its first Local Nonprofit Giveaway. Each organization was nominated by an Ellafi FCU member, ensuring the initiative reflected real community needs and personal connections. One nonprofit was announced each week throughout October, recognizing organizations whose work uplifts women and families across Connecticut.
