#GAC2024 is here!

It’s the first Monday in March and we’ve once again found ourselves in Washington D.C. at the Governmental Affairs Conference. This one is a little different because for the first time, this GAC is under the banner of America’s Credit Unions.

Friday, in The Nussle Report, America’s Credit Unions’ CEO Jim Nussle said, “Those joining us at the convention center will spend the week taking advantage of the unparalleled advocacy, learning, and networking opportunities.”

ACU Chief Association Services Officer Todd Spiczenski appeared on the America’s Credit Unions podcast last week and had this to say:

“Every year is unique, but this year feels like it’s taken on a bigger evolution with the merger of CUNA and NAFCU … We’re building on the foundation of what our members love about GAC. Whether you’re a savvy veteran or a newbie, you’re going to have an experience like no other. You’re going to see some new and different things.”

“If this is your first time, you’re going to be blown away by the experience … The energy is second to none. It’s a large group of people from all over the country united in a common theme of people helping people. It creates this genuine, authentic experience.”

So what can you expect?

Today’s General Session kicks off at 9:30 with a conversation with Actor-Humanitarian Gary Sinise. You probably know Sinise as Lt. Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump or as Detective “Mac” Taylor on the hit series CSI: NY. Sinise has been an advocate on behalf of American Servicemembers for over 40 years and founded the Gary Sinise Foundation in 2011. The foundation’s mission is to serve and honor America’s defenders, veterans, first responders, Gold Star families and those in need and is committed to giving back to those who sacrifice for our country.

Following a lunch break, the afternoon General Session will feature Dr. Jennifer Golbeck speaking on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Jennifer Golbeck is the Director of the Social Intelligence Lab at University of Maryland where she focuses on analyzing and computing with social media and creating usable privacy and security systems.

The afternoon will provide may opportunities for attendees to learn from industry leaders during breakout sessions ranging from interchange to AI.
