Go live(stream)!

Many say it’s the year of Live Streaming.  Why?  It’s an excellent way to stand out in the now very busy digital age space.  Live streaming takes the popular video component and integrates it into social media.  It allows you to very easily create your own television show, in a sense.  Take you smart phone, click a few buttons, and you’re live for the world to view.  Video on Facebook right now is strong.  So strong that live video gets higher organic reach than other types of content. Facebook will actually pin the live video stream to the top of the new feed until you are finished.

I’ve been getting the same question consistently, so how can my business take advantage of this live streaming trend?  There are various ways that you can utilize live video to create stand out content on any platform.  Here are a few ideas:

-Product Demos: Review a new service or product

-Behind the Scenes Content: Let your viewers in on interesting happens around your business

-Q and A’s: Pick a day and time and allow viewers to ask you questions

-Breaking News: Exciting news in your industry?  Take to Facebook Live and share it!

Typically, after I hear, how can I utilize live video?  The next statement out of their mouth is…. but I’m nervous! Remember that these viewers would not be watching you unless they were already interested.  Before you do your first live stream, practice a few times on video.  That will allow you to review your content and practice looking at yourself while you convey your message.  When you go live on Facebook video you will be able to view who is tuning in.  Engage with those viewers and make it interactive.  The main thing is, have fun with it.  You may mess up or mis-speak, but the beauty of live video is it’s raw and shows the real people behind the organization. At the end of the day the mistakes make you more relatable.
