Pre-CUES CEO Institute III: Culmination

In May of 2010, I started a journey with this video.

Shortly thereafter, I would find out I was unsuccessful in my pursuit of becoming the first ever CUES Next Top Credit Union Executive.

Four years later, my attendance at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia for CUES CEO Institute III will represent a culmination of this journey.  It will also result in obtaining my CUES Certified Chief Executive designation.

While I have truly enjoyed my time at both the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell for the first two programs, I am most excited about the experience I am about to embark on at the Darden School.  The focus is leadership, which includes the completion and review of a 360 Degree assessment completed on myself through the anonymous support of my staff, managers, and peers.  While strategic planning and change management are necessary skills for senior executives in credit unions to be well versed in, if you can`t lead people, neither will matter.  To be able to lead others, you first need to be able to lead self.  Being aware of both your strengths and weaknesses and understanding how you can develop in both, can support your development of being a great leader of others.
