121 Financial Credit Union has partnered with teen financial blogger Eva Baker to reach out to the youth market

JACKSONVILLE, FL (February 13, 2014) – In order to help educate the youth market on the benefits of using credit unions, 121 Financial Credit Union has teamed up with teen financial blogger Eva Baker, announced Cindy Breslin, vice president of marketing for 121 Financial.

Baker, who is a 17 year old residing in Jacksonville, Florida, has established a popular website, TeensGotCents.com, that offers free financial information for young people. She also has an eBook, “7 Days to Centsible Savings,” which is available on her website.

“As responsible business citizens, we think it is important that we help today’s youth to learn and understand as much as possible about finances,” explained Breslin. “We are always looking to add various programs to our efforts to reach out to the kids.

“And Eva has received a lot of positive attention for her website. She writes so well to young people her age about finances and money management. So we thought her website would be a great vehicle to tell the credit union story.”

The financial site gets approximately 3,000 hits a month. Topics covered on the site include saving for college so you won’t need a student loan; saving money for purchases like clothes or a car; and ways for kids to earn money.

Much of Baker’s blog are articles about her own financial experiences. Her most recent blog was her experience with opening an account with her mother at 121 Financial Credit Union.

Baker was nominated for a Plutus Award in the Best New Blogger category at the FinCon financial bloggers conference last October.

121 Financial Credit Union offers full banking and loan services to any individual and small business located throughout Northeast Florida. Established in 1935, 121 Financial Credit Union has over 40,000 members.
