1st MidAmerica Credit Union raises over $27,000 for Madison County Child Advocacy Center

(January 28, 2015) — For the second year in a row, 1st MidAmerica Credit Union dedicated its fundraising efforts to the Madison County Child Advocacy Center (CAC), recently presenting a check to the agency for $27,637.48. The majority of the funds were generated from their Annual Charity Golf Outing held in September of 2014. Additional money was raised through other efforts, including pin-up sales at branch teller lines and donations from the credit union’s business partners.

This was a record high for the tournament and its surrounding efforts. In 2013, the tournament raised approximately $17,000 for the CAC. Over the past seven years, the credit union has raised more than $97,000 for local nonprofit organizations through its annual golf tournaments.

“The Child Advocacy Center is thankful to be the recipient of these funds two years in a row. We are glad to have the continued support of wonderful organizations in the community like 1st MidAmerica Credit Union”, said CAC Executive Director, Carrie Cohan.

The Madison County Child Advocacy Center was founded in 2003 and has served over 5,000 children involved in allegations of child maltreatment. The mission of the CAC is to provide a professional and child-friendly environment to assist in the investigation of allegations of child abuse, provide access to services and treatment for victims and their families and raise awareness within the community.

“We are honored to be considered a partner of the Madison County Child Advocacy Center. In helping them serve our communities through the hard work they do, we also support our members and local residents by growing safer and stronger communities,” said Alan Meyer, President and CEO.

With a history of serving members’ financial needs for over 80 years, 1st MidAmerica Credit Union is a not for profit cooperative financial institution that now serves more than 57,000 members through ten locations in Illinois and one in Missouri. Additional information on 1st Midamerica can be found at www.1stMidAmerica.org.
