2016 CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council announces conference dates and call for award entries

WASHINGTON, DC (November 5, 2015) — The 22nd Annual CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council Conference will be held April 10-13, 2016 at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Fl. The event offers four days of high-impact sessions and networking opportunities for credit union professionals in the human resources, training and organizational development fields.

“This conference offers innovative approaches to a range of difficult HR and organizational development issues, from strengthening the team dynamic to adapting to new technologies to addressing compensation challenges,” says Bob Davis, SVP of Human Resources at VyStar Credit Union and Executive Committee Chair for CUNA Human Resources & Organizational Development Council. “Attendees leave with a better understanding of how to engage and empathize with their staff.”

CUNA has also announced that author, executive advisor and career mentor Simon Bailey will serve as the keynote speaker for the conference. Bailey, who has 28 years of business experience and was the first African-American sales director for Walt Disney World Resort, will give a presentation entitled “Shift Your Brilliance: How to Lead, Engage and Grow in the Next Decade.” More general and breakout sessions will be announced in the coming weeks.

Submissions are now open for the CUNA Human Resources & Organizational Development Council’s 2016 awards, which will be presented onsite during the conference. In addition to the Excellence Awards, the Council will present awards in two new categories, the Rising Star of the Year Award and the Professional of the Year Award.

“Credit unions face a number of imposing staff and organizational challenges that require finesse, intelligence and unconventional strategy to overcome,” says Jennifer Huggard, VP of Administration at Northwest Credit Union Association and Awards Committee Chair of CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council. “These awards are our opportunity to recognize true feats of human resources, training and organizational development that inspire the entire movement.”
