2017 MLO training opportunities announced
WASHINGTON, DC (March 16, 2017) — The 2017 opportunities for mortgage loan origination (MLO) training are now available. Providing in-depth compliance knowledge for credit union mortgage loan originators (MLOs), this year’s offerings include face-to-face events and a suite of online courses.
“Due to ever-changing regulations, credit unions are forced to update their loan origination procedures on a regular basis” said Tracy Blaske, director of compliance education and learning events at CUNA. “If you’re an MLO who wants to make sure all of your processes are compliant, rest assured: This is the comprehensive, up-to-date MLO training you’ve been looking for.”
Regulation Z of the Truth in Lending Act mandates that loan originators receive periodic training to stay current with changing state and federal regulations. The expansive content contained in both the live and online CUNA MLO training satisfies the safe harbor requirements for Regulation Z training requirements.
The 8 Hour SAFE Comprehensive 2017 MLO Course, a face-to-face event facilitated by CUNA Senior Federal Compliance Counsel, Michael Christians, will be held at major cities across the country in 2017. Specific regulations addressed in the course fall within Federal Laws & Regulations, Ethics, Consumer Protection and Fair Lending, Lending Standards for the Non-Traditional Mortgage Market, and amendments and upcoming changes to mortgage lending rules.
Credit unions can also get their training through CUNA’s NMLS-approved online courses. Created in partnership with OnCourse Learning, the online program offers the same depth of content as the face-to-face course, and can be tailored to each individual student to include state regulations.
