5 credit union champions win primaries Tuesday

WASHINGTON, DC (September 14, 2022) — Five credit union-friendly candidates won their primary races in Delaware, New Hampshire and Rhode Island Tuesday. Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) and state leagues have backed 333 credit union proponents this cycle with a 96% success rate.

CULAC and Cooperative Credit Union Association supported the following:

In Delaware, Democrat Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester won her primary for the At-large District.

In New Hampshire, Sen. Maggie Hassan won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate seat for New Hampshire. Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas won in the 1st District and Democrat Rep. Ann McLane Kuster won in the 2nd District.

In Rhode Island, Seth Magaziner, D-02, won the Democratic nomination for the open seat vacated by Congressman Jim Langevin. Magaziner, the current General Treasurer of Rhode Island, championed depositing public funds in credit unions.

CULAC is one of the five largest trade association PACs and among the most bipartisan PACs in the country. CULAC works with state leagues to identify, vet, and back congressional candidates who support credit unions and the CUNA-League system’s efforts to promote financial well-being for all.
