A new partnership has blossomed this holiday season! evolve FCU and Academy Sports & Outdoors in West El Paso have come together to gift new shoes to 5 local children’s organizations
A Shoe Story!
HARRISBURG, PA (December 15, 2020) — Tis the season to give back! evolve FCU has newly partnered with Academy Sports & Outdoors in west El Paso to host their first annual shoe donation event benefiting Child Crisis Center, Center Against Sexual and Family Violence, Big Brothers Big Sisters, El Paso Children’s Hospital & Children’s Miracle Network, and Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home.
Both businesses have been working in unison to gather 255 pairs of new shoes for the kids of these local organizations. Throughout this week, they will be making the donation drop offs along with a very special guest, Santa Clause (aka. evolve FCU’s graphic designer, Josue Ornelas).
What sparked A Shoe Story donation event? In taking a tour several months back at one of the children’s organizations, they mentioned to evolve FCU that the facial expression a child has when they open a new pair of shoes is priceless. Wearing a new pair of shoes was a way for the kids to break them in and gain a sense of empowerment, encouragement, and the opportunity to create their own new paths! This is how A Shoe Story was born.
Donations will be this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The media is welcome to attend the donation delivery for story coverage on Thursday, December 17th.
