PINELLAS PARK, FL (October 23, 2023) — Achieva Credit Union is proud to announce a free Shredfest for the community on October 28th, at the Forbes Recreation Center located at 6401 94th Ave. Pinellas Park, FL. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon and is open to the public.

“We are honored to offer this service to our members and the entire community,” said Gary Regoli, President/CEO of Achieva Credit Union. “Keeping confidential documents safe and secure is crucial, and we want to do everything we can to help our members and the community protect themselves.”

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and many financial experts recommend shredding the following types of documents:

Credit cards, utility bills, sales receipts (unless related to taxes) warranties or insurance documents should be shredded as quickly as possible Bank statements, pay stubs and medical bills (unless you have an unresolved insurance dispute) should be shredded once a year. Tax records are recommended to be held for seven years before shredding in case of an audit.

“At Achieva Credit Union one of our core principles is to pay it forward with events such as these,” said David Oak, the Chief Marketing Officer. “We see giving back to the communities we serve as a privilege and will continue to do so for years to come.”

Achieva stays proactively involved in helping its members achieve their financial goals by offering seminars and sponsoring community events. These events are widely recognized throughout the community and have raised more than $400,000 to benefit local schools.

All shredding will be completed on-site during the event through the use of secure shredding trucks. Please ensure all documents are in disposable boxes as the boxes will not be returned. Plastic bags and batteries will not be accepted. Please remain in your car at all times as this is a drive-through event.

Participants will be able to shred five banker boxes of confidential and sensitive documents (paper-based materials) for secure shredding at no cost. Donations to benefit the Achieva Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Corporation, are appreciated.
