AgFirst Federal Credit Union Members Approve Merger with Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union

Columbia, SC – Members of AgFirst Federal Credit Union have approved a merger with Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union.

“Over the past eighteen months our management team along with the Board of Directors had many great discussions on how to best continue serving the needs of the AgFirst members” said Herbie Meetze, former CEO of AgFirst Federal Credit Union.

“It was during this time that we found support and counsel from the leadership at Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union, a $79-million Columbia, SC based credit union serving over 14,000 members nationally. After much consideration from the AgFirst Federal Credit Union management and Board of Directors, a unanimous decision was reached to enter into merger negotiations with the leadership at Carolina Collegiate Federal,” Meetze said.

That merger was proposed to the membership of AgFirst Federal Credit Union, and approved in late December.

“We are pleased to welcome the members of AgFirst to the Carolina Collegiate family” said Anne Shivers, CEO of Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union.

“Former AgFirst members will now have access to more banking convenience through our vast offering of banking technology, as well as additional products and services they previously did not have access to,” Shivers added.

The former AgFirst Federal Credit Union, now a part of Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union will retain the name AgFederal Credit Union, a Division of Carolina Collegiate.
