Bethpage Federal Credit Union, New York State’s largest credit union, was named one of the Best Places to Work in the U.S. for 2021 among small and medium sized businesses by Glassdoor. With a ranking of #29 of the top 50, Bethpage was the only Long Island-based business to receive this esteemed Employee Choice Award.
Glassdoor’s 13th annual Employee Choice Award recognizes the Best Places to Work in 2021 and is based solely on the anonymous input of employees who elect to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments and companies on Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job recruiting sites. Bethpage’s Glass door rating is a 4.8 out of 5.
“Our employees are our most valuable and precious resource,” said Wayne Grossé, President and CEO, Bethpage Federal Credit Union. “That’s why Bethpage’s corporate culture promotes a positive work environment where engagement, inclusion and growth are central to all decision making. With over 740 employees and over 420,000 members, 2020 challenged our employees to step up to new opportunities that have paid off tremendously in our efforts to serve our members during this difficult time. Our employees are as committed to their jobs and the community we serve, just as much as we are to them.”
“COVID-19 is in the driver’s seat and every employer has been impacted. This year’s winning employers have proven, according to employees, that even during extraordinary times, they’ll rise to the challenge to support their people,” said Christian Sutherland-Wong, Glassdoor chief executive officer. “A mission-driven culture, transparent leadership and career opportunities are always hallmarks of Best Places to Work winners. This year, we also see exceptional employers who have prioritized the health, safety and well-being of their employees. My congratulations go to all of this year’s outstanding Employees’ Choice Award winners.”
With 740 employees, Bethpage runs employee clubs, lunch-and-learns, wellness engagement activities, and training and development programs. Last year, programs were expanded to include virtual options during the pandemic, including bringing its “Page Turners” book club online so that employees could stay connected. Bethpage also picked up the copay costs for its employees’ doctor visits in 2020, recognizing that some staffers needed to put off important medical appointments. A mental health app was also launched providing employees with resources to deal with stress.
In 2020, Bethpage was also named one of the Best Places to Work in the U.S.by Glassdoor, with a ranking of #23 of the top 50 in the small to medium sized business category.
Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work in 2021 list was determined using company reviews shared by U.S.-based employees between October 22, 2019 and October 19, 2020. During the year-long eligibility period, employers for the small and medium company category must have received at least 30 ratings, for each of the workplace attributes (overall company rating, career opportunities, compensation & benefits, work/life balance, senior management, culture & values, recommend to a friend and six-month business outlook) from U.S.-based employees during the period of eligibility.
